Additional public transportation and a comprehensive freeway system make travel throughout the East Bay quick and easy. Danville is situated along Interstate 680 between the cities of San Ramon and Walnut Creek and close to the 680/580 interchange. Less than 17 miles from downtown Oakland and less than 30 miles from the city of San Francisco, Danville offers the charm of a small town while still having access to all of the cultural benefits of a large metropolis. Residents of Danville can choose between the San Jose International Airport, the Oakland International Airport or the San Francisco International Airport all three of which offer comprehensive nation wide service. BRIEF HISTORY The diverse architecture of downtown Danville lends the town an undeniable charm and is a testament to the area’s rich history. Many of the town’s original buildings are still standing and many of the streets are named after some of Danville’s most influential citizens. The Seunen, and Ohlone Indian tribes were the original inhabitants of the area known as Danville and made their home in the beautiful Amador Valley. Blessed with rich alluvial soil, the region was perfect for agriculture and successfully sustained several generations of these peaceful people. By the late 1700’s however, Spanish explorers chose the area as a mission site and the valley changed overnight. The Gold Rush of 1849 transformed Danville from a rural village into a vital center of commerce. Two brothers: Daniel and Andrew Inman, successful miners who were impressed by the valley’s beauty and economic potential, worked together to build the settlement into a certified town. Named after Danville, Tennessee, the birthplace of Andrew’s mother in law, Danville attracted people from back east who heard stories of the easy prosperity found in the fabled state of California. With the arrival of the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1891, the population began a steady climb. In 1982, with a population over 26,000, the residents of Danville voted to incorporate their city. Present day Danville has grown into an economically strong community with a high standard of living, a city that embraces its past while looking toward the future. Selling Your Home >When to Take a Walk
Your agent calls to say he is bringing prospective buyers to see your home at 2:00 p.m. You quickly straighten up the house and run the dishwasher. What should you do then? If you have to let them into the house--then take a drive or walk the dog!
Many owners think they should linger close by while their home is being shown. They are afraid that the real estate agent might miss the storage shelves in the basement or forget to point out the beautiful new floor in the kitchen. It is better for the agent to miss something than for you to be ushering the buyers around, so resist the temptation to stay while your house is being shown.
Buyers usually base their decision to buy on an attraction that often has more to do with emotions than pure logic, and a lot goes on between buyer and agent during a showing. The buyer needs to evaluate the home's pluses and minuses, and the agent needs the opportunity to work with the buyer's objections. This process cannot take place comfortably if the seller is on the scene.
